With interior design and fit-out a successful area of expertise for architects, the Interior Design/Fit-out Awards at Architecture Expo have taken on even greater significance. This is reflected year on year in the growing number of entries and in this year’s more refined entry process. Once again Walls are the main sponsor, with award-winning architect Gary Mongey, Box Architecture, chairing a seven-strong judging panel drawn from Architects and Designers, including members of Architecture Ireland’s Editorial Board have selected the below winners.
Quantum is the world’s most advanced electric space heater. It uses low-cost, off-peak energy, making it the most economical electric heating system on the market today. Plus, it adapts to match lifestyle and climate conditions, delivering heat only when it's needed. With its compact, state-of-the-art design, Quantum is the perfect upgrade for static storage heaters and suits a wide range of applications.
Why is Quantum so Good?
Heat on demand
Quantum stores energy up during periods of low demand, turning it into efficient heat only when needed. Through its use of a sophisticated self-learning algorithm, our IQ controller is able to take just the right amount of heat to match the user’s lifestyle and changing weather, intuitively and precisely.
Quantum is fitted with our iQ controller so you can pre-set your heating requirements – just like central heating. Manual adjustment, if required, is also simple with its easy-to-read LCD display and user-friendly low torque rotary knob – designed with the visually impaired in mind.
Quantum is up to 27% cheaper to run than a standard storage heater system. It's also up to 47% cheaper to run than an electric convector or radiator system.*
Peace of mind
Quantum comes with our 10-year warranty† and is also BEAB approved.

Architecture Expo, which runs in tandem with the RIAI Annual Conference, connects Architects, Architectural Technologists and other construction professionals with the innovators in architectural and construction products. All of our Exhibitors are drawn from the leading names in construction products and genuinely bring new products and technologies to the Show – an authentic and worthwhile experience, which also gains you relevant CPD points.
TOP 5 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO VISIT
Architecture Expo is the premier annual event in architectural and construction products and a showcase in design and innovation. It is a must-see for everyone in the industry!
The Place To Be – running alongside the RIAI Annual Conference, Architecture Expo is tailored to meet the needs of Architects and Architectural Technologists. Time is precious in architectural practices and we have selected the most relevant products and technologies for you to make your time at Architecture Expo as efficient as possible.
Leading Exhibitors – the team delivering Architecture Expo have sourced the leading names in construction products. Among the returning Exhibitors are Ecological Building Systems, Kingspan, Saint Gobain, Ecophon and Kingscourt Country Manor Bricks.
Product Innovation – all Exhibitors bring new products and technologies to the Show – with many products specially launched at the Show to the professional audience of Architects and Architectural Technologists.
The Architects’ Choice Awards – the best products and technologies are entered for these prestigious awards, which are assessed by an expert Jury of Architects and Designers. Chair of the Jury is award-winning architect Gary Mongey of Box Architecture.

As designers and energy assessors struggle to strike a balance between excessive levels of fabric insulation and the over specification of expensive renewable technologies, the glaringly obvious solution to their problems, in the vast majority of cases, is being completely ignored.
The industry in general now recognises the benefits of high-performance insulation, high-performance windows and doors, and good airtightness detailing as a means of achieving compliance with Part L of the building regulations. For this we must be grateful. Unfortunately, in a lot of cases, the benefit gained from significant investment in these items is being counteracted by poor thermal bridging details and the use of default thermal bridging values in BER calculations. This is costing self-builders and developers thousands of euros every day across the country and must be addressed.
In order to achieve cost-optimal design and to get the best value for money from the building fabric, good thermal bridging details and the use of project specific thermal bridging values in BER calculations is imperative. Each junction within a building must be carefully designed and thermally modelled to get an accurate figure on the amount of heat which is being lost through thermal bridging. Unfortunately, this process can be costly and time consuming.
At Quinn Building Products we can make this process simple and cost nothing. Combining our high-performance Quinn Therm insulation with our Quinn Lite thermal block, we have developed our own unique set of thermal bridging details which have been fully assessed by an NSAI registered thermal modeller. These details, together with our online Y-Factor calculator, make the process of calculating project specific thermal bridging values for BER calculations relatively simply and more importantly, free.
With the nZEB standard fast approaching, where there will be little or no room for default values, the project specific approach will soon become the norm.
